Guide

In some ways, this fire toy is safer than poi since it won't tangle around limbs. No metal is exposed which prevents branding during skin contact and provides a nice soft padded surface when you smack yourself.

Since the wick is only a a few inches away from your hand, it's important to keep them either held upright or spinning until the flame dies down a bit. Left hanging, the column of fire can get hot awfully fast--I know!

My P-Poi all come with strong, leather, locking, triggers to be worn over the third nut of your middle and third fingers. I've added a convenient quick release tab to these so you can yank 'em off immediately if there is a problem.

Almost every poi movement can be naturally translated on P-Poi without any complications. The weight distribution is a little different and can take a little while to get used to. Wraps, although they don't "wrap" around, still work the same reversing directions instantly.

The biggest thing this toy offers over traditional poi is a series of new "wraps"--hand wraps! Basicly, you can wrap each around your hand, either over the top, the bottom, or around the thumb. These wraps can either bounce and reverse directions instantly or be caught and stopped dead. When caught, the handle portion protects your hand from being so close to the fuel and flames.

While caught, the length of flame simply becomes an extension of your hand. The flames tend to grow larger and brighter when not being spun which adds a contrasting visual effect. Slower sweeping movements and posing further add drama, grace, and poise. They can look a bit like fire swords (and, frankly, are great to spar with). Plus, each one can be stopped, reversed, and spun independently of the other opening up all sorts of possibilities.
